The Magredi are a V-shaped area, clearly visible from satellite images, in the upper Pordenone plain, encased between the Cellina and Meduna rivers.
\nTheir name comes from Friulian and means barren lands and they cover an area of over 43,000 ha., in the municipalities of Maniago, Vivaro, San Quirino, and Cordenons.<\/p>\n

The waters of the two rivers, sinking and flowing underground, leave the riverbeds dry, and only a vast area of white, weathered stones is left. The extremely permeable soil surrounding them has unique features, similar to those of the steppe. In spring, these places are at their most splendid, when several different flowers bloom: among the many varieties, the brassica glabrescens, a delicate little yellow flower, seems to have chosen to grow only in this site, among these stones, and nowhere else in the world.<\/p>\n
