Built in 1488, it bears within the walls of the fa\u00e7ade the stone traces of an earlier cult building, probably dating back to the 8th century.<\/p>\n<p>The simple structure is embellished by the large rose window that dominates the fa\u00e7ade and illuminates the single-nave interior. The 2011 restoration unveiled part of the frescoes of the three apse chapels, including the one dedicated to St. John the Baptist: here, Pomponio Amalteo&#8217;s altarpiece, the Ascent of the Redeemer among the Angels, depicts in the background the late 16th-century Maniago.<\/p>\n<p>The original entrance to the churchyard, framed by the two 18th-century obelisks by Giacomo Conte, gives an optimal view of the whole structure of the church and of the imposing square-based bell tower, approx. 36 metres high, that was built concurrently with the church and that has been recently been restored.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vc_col-sm-4 wpb_column vc_column_container\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><div class=\"w-image style_shadow-1 align_center animate_afr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/museocoltelleriemaniago.it\/eng\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Duomo-di-San-Mauro_04_ph-Denis-Scarpante.jpg\" ref=\"magnificPopup\"
