The history of Maniago, City of Knives, began six centuries ago.
The first driving force behind the manufacturing tradition was the irrigation ditch commissioned by Nicolò di Maniago, which waters set in motion the hammers of the blacksmiths.
History then saw the establishment of workshops, later of companies, and today witnesses the world-leading role of the town in the production of blades.
Walking the streets of Maniago, dozens of architectural traces of these activities are clearly recognisable and, along this itinerary, you may also observe some of the machinery and tools used by knife-makers in their different techniques and ancient know-how.
