Poffabro and Frisanco

The Colvera Valley, named after the creek that flows through it, has Frisanco as its administrative centre, and consists of various hamlets, like Poffabro: a romantic and picturesque village that derives its name “Decimam de Pratum Fabri”, Latin for the blacksmith’s meadow.

The distinctive architecture of the site presents the visitor with charming multi-storey stone houses, leaning against each other, with inner courtyards and wooden balconies.

Every year, at Christmas time, those very courtyards host nativity scenes created by adults, children, enthusiasts and groups, that have earned the name of “nativity amidst nativities” to the village.

In July, the valley becomes the setting for a mesmerising contemporary circus festival, Brocante, which brings artists from all over the world to the enchanting streets of the boroughs of the valley.
