The Frassati Trail of Friuli Venezia Giulia

The trail is dedicated to Pier Giorgio Frassati, a young Turin-born mountain-loving beatified man and expert Alpinist, whom the Italian Alpine Club (CAI) has dedicated a national project aiming at creating a trail entitled to him in every Italian region.

In Friuli Venezia Giulia the trail runs in the municipalities of Maniago, Fanna, Frisanco, and Andreis and can be divided into three legs.

It is a marvellous excursion circuit among history, faith, and nature, that from the plain of Maniago heads into the mountains of the Carnic Prealps, between the Colvera and Cellina Valleys, passing through towns and villages of breath-taking beauty, such as Poffabro. The many churches, chapels and monasteries scattered along the route well tell the centuries-old religious history of the area.
